This month we’re taking a look at five cooperative board games that are currently on Kickstarter. If you want to learn more about the games, head on over to their pages to see rulebooks, potential stretch goals, and other info.
A two-player cooperative board game about discovery, survival, and the crushing loneliness of being the only two humans for lightyears.
It’s nice to see more two-player cooperative games popping up these days. Far Away looks straightforward enough, but what makes it seem different is that you have to stay silent unless you’re together, which makes sense thematically and should create a unique challenge.
In Project: ELITE, players are members of the ELITE squad on a mission to stop the invading forces of an alien empire. Stopping the invasion requires players to speedily roll dice as they take part in real-time, two-minute combat rounds against waves of terrifying enemies.
I know all about Project: ELITE, but I never had a chance to play it the first time around. I know at least one person in my group who would love to play this since he’s a huge fan of real-time games and probably an even bigger fan of chucking dice.
Guardians of Wayword
Guardians of Wayword is a dice-building tabletop game set in a unique world of fantasy that contains characters from many gothic horror and fantasy settings.
Wow, that’s a lot of dice! I’m a huge fan of other dice building games like Too Many Bones and Dice Masters, so I will definitely be playing Guardians of Wayword at some point. With two weeks remaining, I’m pretty confident that this one will be funded.
Dungeon WC is cooperative, real time adrenaline party game where players have to go through a dungeon full of dangers looking for the bathroom.
Oh man, that is a hilarious theme! I’m sure a lot of people backed it for the silly theme alone, but the game itself looks quick and entertaining. I REALLY hope they end up making a timer app with some theme-matching music.
The Everrain is a cooperative exploration game where players must each assemble their own motley crew of spirited mariners and take to the dark seas of a world drowning under the curtain of an endless and oppressive storm that threatens to drown the world.
Village Attacks was a big hit for Grimlord Games last year, so I’m not surprised that so many people are backing The Everrain. Those miniatures and ship boards look fantastic!
