Indie vs AAA Game Sales Statistics 2026 [Steam Revenue, Copies Sold and Price Gaps]

Discord reports more than 90 million daily active users; TeamSpeak reports no user count at all. That gap shapes every Discord vs TeamSpeak user comparison, so the figures below come from what both sides do expose: app store listings, Similarweb traffic estimates, price tables, privacy labels and the 2026 age-check timeline. Data runs through October 2026, including Discord’s September rollout of automatic age groups.
Discord vs TeamSpeak User Comparison
How Many People Use Discord vs TeamSpeak?

TeamSpeak has not published a user count. Its company page says only that the software connects “millions worldwide.”

Did Discord’s Age Checks Send Users to TeamSpeak?
TeamSpeak said on February 14, 2026 that a surge of new users had filled hosting capacity in many regions, especially the United States. It opened Frankfurt 3 and Toronto 1 for new communities but gave no sign-up count.
The post came five days after Discord’s age assurance announcement. Outlets including Kotaku and Forbes tied the surge to that plan.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| February 9, 2026 | Discord announces teen-by-default settings and global age assurance from early March |
| February 14, 2026 | TeamSpeak says hosting capacity is reached in many regions |
| February 24, 2026 | Discord delays the global rollout to the second half of 2026 |

Discord says more than 90% of users get an age group from account signals such as account age and server membership, without an ID or selfie.
Users outside that group can confirm through a credit card, an Apple App Store or Google Play age range, Google Wallet, AgeKey, an on-device video selfie or an ID scan. The estimation model is not used in the UK or Australia.
The company also retired the manual review process linked to its September 2025 vendor breach. TechCrunch reported that breach may have exposed about 70,000 users’ government ID photos.
Neither company has published switching figures since the September rollout.

Privacy Labels: What Discord and TeamSpeak Collect
Apple’s privacy labels are self-reported by developers and not verified by Apple.
| App | Data used to track you | Data linked to you | Data not linked to you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discord | Identifiers | Purchases, Contact Info, User Content, Search History, Identifiers, Usage Data, Diagnostics | None listed |
| TeamSpeak 3 | None listed | None listed | Diagnostics |
Source: Apple App Store (US) privacy labels, October 2026
That puts seven linked data categories on Discord’s label against none on TeamSpeak’s. Google Play shows the same split: Discord may share device or other IDs and collect location, personal info and 9 other data types, while TeamSpeak 3 declares no data collected or shared.

Since early March 2026, every Discord voice and video call outside Stage channels has been end-to-end encrypted by default, Discord says. Text messages are not covered, and Discord has no current plans to change that.
That protocol, called DAVE, covers desktop, mobile, web and console calls, including players on Xbox’s platform.
TeamSpeak’s licensing page states that all TeamSpeak servers feature end-to-end encryption and zero data tracking.
