Cloud Gaming Market Size 2026: Forecasts, Users, Regions and Platform Demographics
Seven research firms have published a 2026 cloud gaming market size. The lowest is $4.81 billion. The highest is $28.29 billion. That is a spread of nearly six times for the same year, and it comes from definitions rather than measurement error. Below are the estimates, what platforms disclose, and survey data on how cloud gamers pay and play.

What Is the Cloud Gaming Market Size in 2026?
No two firms agree. The Business Research Company puts 2026 at $28.29 billion. Precedence Research puts it at $4.81 billion. Every figure below is revenue under that firm’s own scope definition, not a user count, so the rows are not interchangeable.
| Research firm | 2026 estimate | Forecast | Stated CAGR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Precedence Research | $4.81 billion | $120.60 billion by 2035 | 43.31%, 2026–2035 |
| Grand View Research | $4.9 billion | $21.0 billion by 2030 | 44.3%, 2025–2030 |
| Mordor Intelligence | $6.23 billion | $21.62 billion by 2031 | 28.25%, 2026–2031 |
| Persistence Market Research | $6.8 billion | $33.7 billion by 2033 | 25.7%, 2026–2033 |
| Coherent Market Insights | $14.00 billion | $241.42 billion by 2033 | 50.2%, 2026–2033 |
| Fortune Business Insights | $23.79 billion | $159.26 billion by 2034 | 26.80%, 2026–2034 |
| The Business Research Company | $28.29 billion | $130.42 billion by 2030 | 46.5%, 2026–2030 |

Why Cloud Gaming Market Size Estimates Disagree
Base years diverge before the forecasts start. IMARC Group valued 2025 at $3,785.5 million and projects $78,213.1 million by 2034 at a 40.0% CAGR.
Firms at the top of the table fold adjacent digital gaming revenue into their scope. Firms at the bottom count streaming delivery alone. A $4.81 billion figure and a $28.29 billion figure can both describe 2026 without either being wrong.
Scale check: Newzoo’s 2025 Global Games Market Report projected $188.8 billion in global games revenue for 2025, up 3.4% year on year, with 3.578 billion players. Against that, even the top cloud estimate stays a small slice of total player spending across platforms.
How Many Hours Does Xbox Cloud Gaming Stream?
Microsoft stopped publishing cloud user counts and now reports hours. Satya Nadella said on the FY25 Q4 earnings call that players streamed more than 500 million hours through Xbox Cloud Gaming in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025.
Two quarters inside that year were itemised. Hours and users measure different things, and Microsoft has not published a cloud user figure since more than 20 million people in October 2022.
| Period | Hours streamed | Disclosed on |
|---|---|---|
| Quarter ended December 31, 2024 | 140 million | FY25 Q2 call, January 2025 |
| Quarter ended March 31, 2025 | 150 million | FY25 Q3 call, April 2025 |
| Fiscal year ended June 30, 2025 | 500 million+ | FY25 Q4 call, July 2025 |

Xbox Wire reported on November 26, 2025 that cloud gaming hours from Game Pass subscribers rose 45% against the same point a year earlier. Console players spent 45% more time cloud streaming and other devices 24% more. Fuller quarter detail sits in these Xbox Cloud Gaming usage figures.
Cloud Gaming Market Size by Platform Disclosure
No operator reports cloud gaming as a standalone revenue line. That is the root cause of the spread in the first table.
What each company publishes measures something different, so the rows below cannot be added or ranked against each other.

| Xbox Cloud Gaming | 500 million+ hours | Streaming hours, full fiscal year | Year to June 30, 2025 |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | 29 countries | Country availability | November 2025 |
| Xbox Game Pass | 34 million | Members, last official count | February 2024 |

Game Pass revenue reached nearly $5 billion for the first time in the year to June 30, 2025. Microsoft has not confirmed a member count since 34 million, a gap covered in these Game Pass subscriber statistics. NVIDIA’s silence runs longer still, as this breakdown of GeForce NOW membership disclosures shows.
What Do Cloud Gamers Pay Each Month?
The community platform cloudbase.gg surveyed 22,665 of its own visitors between April 2024 and September 2025. It is an opt-in survey of active cloud gamers, not a general population sample, and each question carries its own respondent count.
Among paying respondents, 73% spend under $20 a month. Game Pass Ultimate at $22.99 sits above what nearly three-quarters of that group budgets.
| Monthly spend | Share of paying respondents | Respondents |
|---|---|---|
| Under $10 | 33% | 656 |
| $10 to $20 | 40% | 788 |
| $20 to $30 | 12% | 244 |
| More than $30 | 14% | 279 |

Usage is heavier than spending suggests. Of 4,234 respondents, 51% use a cloud service daily. Of 6,637 answering on weekly playtime, 29% stream 30 or more hours a week while 41% stream under five. That ceiling on spend also shows up in wider subscription adoption across gaming.
Which Devices Do Cloud Gamers Use?
PCs lead by a wide margin. This was a multiple-choice question, so respondents could name several devices and the shares are not exclusive slices of one audience.
Smartphones sit at 25%, well behind PCs but ahead of every other option, which lines up with phone-first play patterns elsewhere in gaming. Tablets reach 10%, consoles 8% and smart TVs 8%, trailing the PC platform’s overall scale.

What Cloud Gamers Value Most
Free trials outrank catalogue size and price. Of 4,046 respondents to this multiple-choice question, 58% named free trials. Price finished fifth of seven options at 20%, and community features came last at 8%.

Cloud Gaming Market Size Pressure: Prices, Caps and Ads
Microsoft raised Game Pass Ultimate from $19.99 to $29.99 in October 2025, then cut it to $22.99 on April 21, 2026 per Xbox Wire. PC Game Pass dropped from $16.49 to $13.99 the same day, with future Call of Duty titles no longer joining at launch.
Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said at The Game Business Live on June 8, 2026 that the October increase cost the service millions of subscribers. He gave no number.
NVIDIA moved the other way. From January 1, 2026, Performance and Ultimate members get 100 hours of monthly playtime with up to 15 unused hours rolling over, per NVIDIA’s FAQ. Grandfathered unlimited plans ended at the first billing date after January 15, 2026, and NVIDIA said the cap would affect under 6% of users. Extra 15-hour blocks cost $2.99 on Performance and $5.99 on Ultimate.
Both companies are now testing the free end. NVIDIA’s free tier runs one-hour sessions. Microsoft opened an ad-supported test to Xbox Insiders on July 23, 2026, letting them stream games they already own at no cost with ads before each session and a one-hour session limit across supported devices and regions. A side-by-side look at both services tracks how far the two models have converged, and Amazon Luna’s published reach shows a third operator taking the same route through Prime.
FAQs
What is the cloud gaming market size in 2026?
Published 2026 estimates run from $4.81 billion (Precedence Research) to $28.29 billion (The Business Research Company). Each figure measures vendor revenue under that firm’s own scope definition, so the numbers are not directly comparable.
How many hours does Xbox Cloud Gaming stream?
More than 500 million hours in Microsoft’s fiscal year ended June 30, 2025. The service recorded 140 million hours in the quarter ended December 31, 2024 and 150 million in the quarter ended March 31, 2025.
How much do cloud gamers spend each month?
Among 1,967 paying respondents to the cloudbase.gg Cloud Gaming Report 2025, 33% spend under $10 a month and 40% spend $10 to $20. Only 14% spend more than $30.
Why do Reddit threads disagree on the cloud gaming market size?
Because each research firm counts different revenue. Estimates for 2026 span $4.81 billion to $28.29 billion. Threads citing different reports are usually both accurate, just quoting incompatible scope definitions.
Do Reddit complaints about the GeForce NOW cap reflect most members?
NVIDIA said the 100-hour monthly cap would affect under 6% of users. The cloudbase.gg survey found 29% of 6,637 respondents stream 30 or more hours weekly, so cloud-first players feel it far more than the wider membership.
