How Many Meta Quest Headsets Has Meta Shipped?
Meta shipped 1.7 million Quest headsets across the first three quarters of 2025, down 16% on the same period of 2024, according to IDC vice president Francisco Jeronimo, speaking to The Register.
Full-year 2024 shipments were 5.6 million Quest and Quest Pro units. Meta launched Quest 3 in October 2023 and Quest 3S in October 2024, then released no new headset in October 2025.

IDC forecast in December 2025 that mixed and virtual reality headset shipments would fall 42.8% across 2025 while the rest of the XR market grew 211.2%. The same forecast put total XR device shipments, headsets and glasses combined, at 14.5 million units for the year, a rise of 41.6%.

Meta Quest 3 Price Statistics After the April 2026 Increase
Meta raised prices across the Quest line on 19 April 2026, citing the global surge in memory chip costs. Quest 3 took the larger rise, $100 against $50 on either Quest 3S model.
The new prices applied to refurbished units as well. Accessories stayed where they were.

Meta Quest 3 Sales Statistics on Steam: PC VR Usage Share
Valve’s Steam Hardware & Software Survey is opt-in and anonymous. It reports the share of connected headsets among surveyed Steam users who had one attached, not sales or installed base.
In July 2026, 1.71% of surveyed Steam users had a VR headset connected, up 0.18 points on June.

Quest 2 recorded the largest change in share of any headset listed in the July 2026 survey. Valve publishes the change column without explaining what sits behind it.
When Did Quest 3 First Lead the Steam Survey?
Quest 3 took the top spot in the September 2025 survey at 26.68%, just ahead of Quest 2 at 26.17%, ending a four-and-a-half-year run for the older headset, Road to VR reported. Valve Index ranked third that month at 13.47%, against 10.83% in July 2026.

Reality Labs Revenue Behind Meta Quest 3 Sales
Meta does not break out Quest revenue. Reality Labs covers headsets, glasses, software and content in one segment, so Quest 3 sales sit inside a line that also carries Ray-Ban Meta.

Full-year Reality Labs revenue was $2,207 million in 2025 against $2,146 million in 2024. The operating loss widened to $19,193 million from $17,729 million.
Meta told investors ahead of Q4 2025 that retail partners had bought Quest headsets during Q3 to prepare for the holidays, and that those units were recorded as third-quarter revenue. Q4 2025 revenue of $955 million came in below the $1,083 million recorded in Q4 2024.
CFO Susan Li attributed the 16% year-over-year revenue growth in Q2 2026 to AI glasses sales, partially offset by lower Quest headset sales. Against Meta’s total Q2 2026 revenue of $60.80 billion, Reality Labs is a rounding error next to the console businesses covered in these gaming industry revenue statistics.

Counterpoint Research tracks brand share of global XR shipments, covering headsets and glasses together. Meta held 58% in Q1 2026, the same figure it recorded in Q3 2025.

VITURE posted the largest gain among the named challengers, rising from 1% in Q2 2025 to 5% in Q1 2026 on AR glasses rather than headsets. Pico moved the other way, from 10% in Q3 2024 to 5% in Q1 2026.
Counterpoint recorded global VR headset shipments down 17% year on year and 39% quarter on quarter in Q1 2026, which it attributes to weak demand, an ageing lineup and few new launches. AR smart glasses shipments rose 136% year on year over the same quarter. Counterpoint also reports that Meta has reiterated it is not exiting VR. Meta Quest 3 Software Spending Statistics
Software held up better than hardware. Meta’s games director Chris Pruett told GDC 2026 that more than 100 Horizon Store titles grossed over $1 million in 2025, and that the number of in-app-purchase apps reaching $500,000 or more rose 20%.
Store gross revenue was up slightly on 2024, which Pruett set against Circana’s estimate of 1% growth for the wider games industry. In-app purchase revenue rose 13% on the platform, while total payment volume held roughly flat.
Meta Horizon+ passed one million active subscribers during 2025 and paid out nearly $20 million to participating developers. Meta also reports that 86% of effective time spent in its headsets goes to third-party apps, and that unique Quest users hit an all-time high in 2025.
