Google Thanos Snap
Click the gauntlet in the corner and half the page burns away as ash, one block at a time, with the counter dropping as each one goes.
What Is the Thanos Snap Easter Egg?
The thanos snap is the search page losing half of itself. A gold gauntlet sits beside the results, and clicking it turns roughly fifty percent of what you can see into drifting dust. The number of results falls with it. An undo control brings everything back, which is the part most people forget to try.
What sells the effect is the stagger. Blocks do not vanish together, they go in sequence, so the page empties in front of you rather than in a single frame.
How the Thanos Snap Started
Google ran it in April 2019 to tie in with the final Avengers film. Searching for the character added the gauntlet to the live results page, and the disintegration was applied to real listings, complete with a halved result count and a small tilt as the page settled.
It was switched off a few weeks later, along with the other film tie-ins from that period. Rebuilt versions like this one are how most people see it now, in the same way that zerg rush outlived its own removal.
How to Use the Thanos Snap
- Click the gauntlet, or use the snap button below the frame.
- Watch the two counters. Half the blocks move from one to the other.
- Snap again to halve what is left, and again after that.
- Press dust everything if you want the page emptied in one pass.
- Undo restores every element, ash and all.
Each block breaks into particles based on its own area, so the knowledge panel produces far more dust than a footer link does.
FAQs
Does thanos snap google still work in search?
Not any more. The promotion ended after the film run, so searching the character now returns an ordinary page.
Did it delete real results?
Only on screen, and only in your own browser. Nothing was removed from the index and a refresh brought it all back.
Are there other character tie-ins like it?
Yes. Grogu google reacts to your cursor, and google batman puts a signal in the sky.
Can I snap the page more than once?
Here you can. Each snap works on whatever survived the last one, so the page thins out in halves. The rest of the collection is under google easter eggs.
