What Are Gimkit Cosmetics

Gimkit cosmetics are visual items players earn through gameplay in 2D game modes. They cover character skins, particle trails, and lobby stickers — with no effect on scores or game mechanics. The system launched on April 12, 2022, and has expanded steadily since then.

What Are Gimkit Cosmetics?

Gimkit cosmetics connect directly to the platform’s XP and leveling system. Players earn XP by answering questions in eligible 2D game modes. Every 1,000 XP moves a player up one level, which awards 100 GimBucks — the in-game currency used to buy cosmetic items. Both teachers and students use the same system.

Cosmetics live in the Locker, accessible through the Rewards menu. Items there stay permanently — they do not expire or reset. If you are setting up an account for the first time, this guide on how to open a Gimkit account covers the basics before you get started.

What Types of Gimkit Cosmetics Are Available?

Gims

Gims are character skins used in 2D game modes. They replace the default avatar. Some have unique animations, see-through designs, or distinct body shapes. The first Gim ever released — Day One — launched alongside the system on April 12, 2022.

Trails

Trails are particle effects that follow a Gim as it moves through 2D gameplay. They are purely decorative and only visible during active movement in supported modes like Snowbrawl, Blastball, and One Way Out.

Stickers

Stickers only appear in the pre-game lobby. Players can place up to 10 on screen at once while waiting for a session to begin. Placing an 11th automatically removes the first.

Gimkit Cosmetics Rarity Tiers and Prices

Each item in the system belongs to one of five rarity levels. The Item Shop uses fixed GimBucks pricing based on rarity. Duplicate items received through Packs can be sold back at set rates.

Maximum buy price by rarity tier (GimBucks)

Mythic cosmetics cannot be bought from the Item Shop directly. They are only available through Packs or the Season Ticket, which costs $5 USD. As of early 2026, ten Mythic Gims exist: Atlantis, Build-A-Bug, Sprite, The “Golden” Retriever, Custom Kitten, U.F.O, Everything, Hauntis, Reinkle The Gold-Nosed, and The Skull Armadana.

How Players Earn Gimkit Cosmetics: XP and GimBucks Limits

Gimkit caps how much XP a player can earn each week to limit overuse. The Season Ticket raises that cap and adds a small bonus for holders.

Unspent GimBucks carry over from week to week. During summer break, XP stops accumulating — but cosmetics already in the Locker remain usable throughout.

The Gimkit Item Shop and Packs Explained

The Item Shop refreshes every Wednesday at 2 PM EST. Missing an item means waiting — sometimes several weeks — for it to cycle back. Since March 2025, Packs have also been available at 30 GimBucks each. They offer randomized pulls across all rarity tiers.

Six permanent Packs are available: Retro, Dog, Cat, Bug, Atlas, and Elemental. Seasonal Packs appear temporarily throughout the year. All purchased items land in the Locker under the Rewards menu.

Teachers managing classes through Gimkit Groups can oversee cosmetic settings across their school from the admin panel.

How to Disable Gimkit Cosmetics in Class

Teachers can hide cosmetics during live sessions if they prefer a distraction-free setup. Go to Settings > Game Settings > Disable Cosmetics. This removes Gims, trails, and stickers from view, but XP still accumulates normally for all students.

Teachers using Gimkit Classes can still track XP progress and cosmetic activity within their class rosters even when the display setting is off.

FAQs

Do Gimkit cosmetics give any in-game advantage?

No. Gims, trails, and stickers are purely visual. Speed, scores, and game mechanics are unaffected by any cosmetic item a player chooses.

How many GimBucks do you earn per level in Gimkit?

Each level-up awards 100 GimBucks. Reaching a new level requires 1,000 XP. Standard accounts cap at 15 level-ups per week, earning up to 1,500 GimBucks weekly.

Can you spend real money on Gimkit cosmetics directly?

Not directly. GimBucks only come from gameplay. The Season Ticket ($5 USD) unlocks exclusive items and raises the weekly XP cap but does not sell GimBucks outright.

What happens to Gimkit cosmetics over summer break?

XP earning pauses from mid-June until the school year resumes. Cosmetics already in the Locker remain accessible and usable throughout the summer period.

How many Mythic Gims exist in Gimkit?

Ten as of early 2026: Atlantis, Build-A-Bug, Sprite, The “Golden” Retriever, Custom Kitten, U.F.O, Everything, Hauntis, Reinkle The Gold-Nosed, and The Skull Armadana. All are Pack or Season Ticket exclusives.
