Coming Soon – The Masters’ Trials: Wrath of Magmaroth

The Masters' Trials Wrath of Magmaroth preview

Release Date: November 2017 | Number of Players: 1-4 | Game Length: 60+ minutes

From BGG:

The Masters’ Trials: Wrath of Magmaroth is a cooperative dice-crafting game in which players represent the masters from the orders that have banded together to face the evil elemental. Each player has a board that represents their character and 5 dice which they use to apply the effects of their abilities. Each round they face new minions, generate mana and get to master new abilities, adding them on their characters. After 10 rounds, they come face to face with the powerful Magmaroth which they have to defeat before the whole volcano collapses around them.

I’m very interested to see how the “dice-crafting” is implemented in this one. I like Dice City (the game where this mechanic was made popular), but it does lack player interaction. This game should definitely have player interaction since, ya know, it’s a co-op! It’s also really cool that you get to use your dice to build unique characters.

I am a big fan of AEG when it comes to their cooperative tabletop games, which is yet another reason why I’m looking forward to playing The Masters’ Trials. The Captain is Dead is fantastic and Eight Epics is a fun little filler.
